Dr. Ramareddy V. Guntaka, Ph.D - Chief Scientific Advisor
A Professor in the Department of Molecular Sciences, University of Tennessee, is our Chief Scientific Adviser. He has three decades of hands on experience in virology and molecular biology and has published extensively in many high impact journals. He was a member of the team that discovered the proto-oncogenes for which the 1989 Nobel Prize was awarded to Drs. H.E.Varmus and J.M.Bishop. Dr Ramareddy V. Guntaka was also the key person for cloning and commercialization of Hepatitis B vaccine (Shanvac-BTM) and Interferon Alpha 2b(Shanferon TM) by Shantha Biotechnics Ltd, Hyderabad. He is also certified with cloning and sequencing, for the first time, the entire genome of Indian isolates of Hepatitis C Virus. Recently he received the Genome Valley Excellence Award at the BioAsia 2006 held in February 2006.
Dr. Srinivasulu Sonati, Ph.D - G.M. Research & Development
17 years of experience in process and product development. Earlier worked at Albert Einestein College of Medicine, USA in various positions. He has published fifteen research papers and presented two dozens papers in national and international conventions. He holds a Diploma in Business Administration besides having a PhD degree in Biochemistry.
Dr. Mythili K. Padala, Ph.D - Principal Scientist
Has has more than 15 years of experince and published more than 15 papers . She has worked for 5 years at Osmania University and ICRISAT, Hyderabad as Geneticist. She contributed to the cloning and expression of majority of the antigen clones, chymosin, human serum albumin, erythropoietin and interferon beta 1a and 1b that are available at SBL. She has developed the dilution method for activating chymosin, which resulted in a process patent awarded to SBL. She is now working in the laboratory of Dr. Guntaka on cloning and characterization of E1 and E2 of HCV, two potential candidates for HCV vaccine. She is also characterizing G-CSF, Hirudin, Insulin Clones.
Dr.Giri Raghavaraju Ph.D - AGM - Research & Development
He Obtained Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. He has 10 years of research experience in both Academic and Industrial atmosphere. Prior to joining SBL, he worked in several reputed Universities in Taiwan, Canada, and USA and carried out work on cancer biology, drug discovery, and receptor trafficking and signal transduction. He has worked on cloning, expression and purification of therapeutic proteins and industrial enzymes both in prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems. To his credit, he has published over 15 research papers in many international reputed journals. He also holds post graduate diploma in Bioinformatics and Molecular Modeling.
Mr. Praveen Goud, M.Sc. - AGM - Microbiology & Fermentation
He has gained 20+ years experince in Biotechnology Industries . He did his Master of Science in Biotechnology from Marathwada Univeristy, Aurangabad. He worked with JK Pharmachem Limited, Tamilnadu as Senior Microbiologist and trained at ICN-Galenika, Yugoslovia collaborator place from successful stablization of Penicllin G molecule. He also worked with M/s. Artemis Biotech Limited, Hyderabad as Manager Microbiology. He was deputed to M/s. Biofin Labs, Italy for technology transfer of Lovastatin Molecule and successfully transfeered up to 32 KL Fermentor Level. In SBL he is responsible for Scale up Activities from R & D levels to Production level under cGMP Environment.
